2000) the starter idle gear No. 1 (part#12 611 - 24B01 and its pin (part# 09206-10003) are replaced with LIMITER ASSY, starter idle gear (part# 12600-24B00 of 24B10. These parts are almost interchangeable -- since the limiter is about 8 mm wider that the original idle gear, you have to remove 8 mm from the "sleeve" of the generator cover. This LIMITER as far as I understand dampens the back kick of the piston when engine is shut off by sliding like a clutch the mutual disposition of the two gears (one gear connected to the starter idle gear#2, the other -- to the big starter gear and flywheel) in this unit. After this "modification" which I think Suzuki should done it much earlier -- (in almost all Savages that I know in Bulgaria - they are 5-6, in 4 of them they have broken down starter gears) I hope that this problem will no longer trouble our nice bikes!
